Its one of those poses that people (myself included) may think "oh i can do plow pose". And perhaps you can, but with the right cues you can get a lot more out of the pose. In this video i offer some tips that will help you experience a deeper halasana. 💛 . . 👉👉SWIPE FOR USE OF PROPS👉👉 . . ⭕KEY POINTS 1. Though this pose is typically entered from sarvangasana (shoulder stand), you can enter it directly from the floor by coming into a bridge and kicking your feet over. 2. The preparatory action of rolling your shoulders together under you is critical. It elevates your scapulae so your shoulders come together. This is useful for two major reasons. First, it distributes the bulk of the weight across the shoulders, upper arms and elbows, keeping the neck free from contact with the floor. So it protects your cervical spine. Second, it keeps weight from collapsing onto your upper back. When the weight is on your upper back, your diaphragm becomes obstructed, making breathing more difficult. So rolling shoulders helps you breathe easier. 3. The simultaneous actions of pressing into backs of arms (triceps), lifting sitting bones upward and grounding through the toes will help achieve maximal spine lengthening.
